It has been a wonderful summer, but like all good things, it must sadly come to an end. Until next year of course. And while I sit back and reflect on all of the amazing memories, there is one in specific that tops them all: A journey to Greek hospitality. It was just another day exploring Crete with my

Dormition Day: Greek Holiday Edition
“Chronia Polla!” Or as we would say, “Many Years!” Name-Days are extremely important in Greek Orthodox religion; more so over Birthdays. Every Greek celebrates their Name-Day, which is a specific day addressed to someone who shares the same name as a Saint. Every Saint is celebrated, but none as gloriously as the Virgin Mother Mary. It is on August 15th

Getting Ready for Summer in Platanias
Platanias is a super cute beach village sitting along the northwest coast of Crete, Greece. With numerous hotels and adorable little beach shacks to lively tavernas and popular night clubs, Platanias is a must-see destination during your stay on the island. Bakla-What?!
“Bakla-what?!”, You may ask? Baklava (Bak-la-va) is a very popular Greek and middle-eastern dessert, and I’m so in love with it! So, what is it? It’s a bite-sized, flakey dessert that leaves your fingers an absolute mess. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?

First Impressions of Crete
Its been just about three months since I moved to Crete, Greece and here’s a few things I’ve come to notice so far: 1. Fanny Packs. They’re a thing. And mainly just for the Greek men. They all sport them like they never went out of style. Thank goodness too, because I love wearing mine. Although, I do get

Elafonisi Beach can be wrapped up into one word: Breathtaking! Dan and I recently had the opportunity to travel to this off-the-beaten-path gorgeous beach. Elafonisi is located along the southwestern tip of the Island of Crete, Greece, and is

Lift Off! Smooth skies with a little turbulence
I made it! I completed the 3 day globe-trot from sunny San Diego all the way to the breathtaking Mediterranean Sea. Right smack in the middle of the European, Asian and African continents. On the Island of Crete. And I survived! Don’t get me wrong, my 21 hour air travel was pretty damn easy. All I really need is music, bourbon and a pillow.
